Language immersion, thoughtfully compared

How to budget for a Chinese language program

Build a complete study budget without confusing weekly tuition, term fees and accommodation packages.

Build the total before comparing

Use separate budget lines for tuition, registration, books, insurance, accommodation, meals, transport and travel. Keep optional activities separate. Mark every unknown as “quote needed” instead of entering zero.

Keep the currency and period visible

Mandarin Zone publishes CNY 6,200 for a two-week intensive group option. TCA publishes TWD 60,000 for a 12-week program. Neither figure is a complete cost of living, and the currencies are different. A lower-looking number does not establish a cheaper course.

Do not divide every term price into a weekly claim

Some calendars contain holidays, orientation or breaks. To estimate a comparable teaching-week cost, first establish the actual number of teaching weeks and the same set of included charges. Label your result as a calculation, not a provider quote.

Separate tuition from additional fees

ECNU’s spring 2027 intensive tuition is CNY 16,000, with an additional CNY 800 application fee. NTU CLD lists a TWD 2,500 application fee separately from seasonal tuition. Books and living costs can add further expenses.

A quotation request you can reuse

Please confirm the total amount payable for my dates and level, in the original billing currency. Include registration, materials and every mandatory charge, and list optional accommodation separately. Please also send the payment, cancellation and refund conditions.

Keep the dated reply alongside your budget. Exchange-rate changes and individual spending remain separate from the school’s published fees.
